Saturday 31st March
Barritt Cup
Bro Cernyw made sure that there
will be a Clwyd League side in the final,
following their 3-1 home win over Nantlle
Vale in the Pentraeth Honda Barritt Cup 3rd
round. Bro Cernyw now face Prestatyn Town
Res. at home in the semi-final. Trailing from
a Gwyn Jones penalty on 70 minutes, Bro Cernyw
rallied with three goals in 5 minutes, Dylan
Roberts equalised with a penalty nine minutes
from time, then unlucky Nantlle conceded two
own goals before having a player dismissed
for a second bookable offence.
The semi-final will take place
in Llangernyw on Saturday 14th April, Prestatyn
Town's Cymru Alliance side have a home fixture
with Llandudno Town on this date, which presents
Bro Cernyw with a excellent opportunity to
progress to their first cup final at senior
level.
Premier Cup
Premier Cup holders Rhuddlan
Town have reached the final again after beating
Flint Town on penalties, Flint Town goal keeper
Sam Jones got himself on the scoresheet after
his long clearance deceived Jamie Jones in
the opposite goal to equalise John Hargreaves
opening strike.
Premier League
Title favourites Prestatyn Town
crashed at home to Rhyl Youth, leading with
just 14 minutes left Prestatyn lost both central
defenders through injury. Mike Roose completed
a hat trick and Ashley Callend ended the scoring
for Rhyl, who were much strengthened as their
Welsh Alliance side had no game.
Rhyl Nomads got back to winning
ways with a seven goal thrashing of Halkyn
United Res., who were unlucky to lose their
keeper after he injured himself in the warm
up.
Penmaenmawr again wasted a two
goal lead against much improved Aston Park
Rangers and Llansannan went down 2-1 at Mochdre
Sports.
Denbigh Town Res. 1 Trefnant Village 0
Denbigh Town Res. last game of the season
at home to local rivals Trefnant Village,
the tussle for runners up spot was watched
by a crowd of 150. Rob Scrimshaws 41st minute
goal was enough to secure the win to guarantee
Denbigh Town Reserves second place in Division
One and promotion to the Clwyd Premier Division.

Abergele Rovers completed their league programme
with a 4-1 away win at Trefnant Village. Trefnant
must win at local rivals Denbigh Town in next
weeks crunch game to become runners up, a draw
would be enough for Denbigh Town to gain promotion
back to the Clwyd Premier League at the first
attempt.
Saturday 10th March
All today's fixtures were completed,
but most of the games were hampered by strong winds,
Rhuddlan Town narrowly won their Premier cup tie
against Llansannan and now face a semi-final tie
at Flint Town.
In the Premier Division, Halkyn United
won their relegation tussle at home to Mochdre Sports
with a late goal despite playing the last 20 minutes
with only nine men, after 2 players were sent off.
Llandyrnog United and Rhyl Nomads
both dropped vital points, Nomads blew a 2-0 goal
lead with only 12 minutes remaining, both goals
were conceded from identical free kicks.
Strong winds at Cae Nant Llandyrnog
made it hard for both teams to play any decent football,
but visitors Bro Cernyw were able to plunder their
eighth draw of the season,
Trailing by 2 goals after a disastrous
first half Prestatyn Town rallied to close in on
the top two, Aston Park's Gary McConnell threatened
to upset his former club with two goals, but a Craig
Griffiths hat-trick won it for the home side.
Greenfield and Abergele Rovers will
contest the REM Jones Cup final, after both clubs
won their semi-final ties. The Final will be a repeat
of last season's Halkyn Cup final, when both sides
were in Division Two. Greenfield caused an upset
by beating Abergele 1-0 to win the cup, but Division
One champions Abergele Rovers will again be strong
favourites. The REM Jones Cup final will be played
on Thursday 12th April, kick off time 6:30pm, the
venue has yet to be decided, but Prestatyn seems
the likely option.
Cerrigydrudion became the first club
to complete all their fixtures this season, last
year they finished on 29th May.
Glan Conwy need only 4 points from
their remaining three games to be crowned Division
Two champions, their next league fixture on March
24th will be at home to bottom club St Asaph, but
they also have to face tough games against Y Glannau
and Aztec Sports to follow.
Sychdyn, Rhuddlan Town Res. &
Y Glannau all won to stay in the promotion race.
Leon Bowen scored a hat-trick for Northop Hall at
Sychdyn, but unfortunately still ended up on the
losing side and Meirion Edwards late late goal at
Aston Park Rangers Res. earned Y Glannau 3 vital
points in their quest for promotion.
3rd February 2007
Barritt Cup
Bro Cernyw enjoyed an excellent away win at Welsh
Alliance side Rhydymwyn, while Rhuddlan Town were
well beaten by a very strong Rhyl side for whom
former Bangor City striker Paul Roberts scored 4
times.
Premier Division
The top of the table clash between Llandyrnog United
and Rhyl Nomads ended in victory for the league
leaders Llandyrnog who stretched their lead to seven
points. Rhyl Nomads controversially had Cameron
Campbell sent of after 60 minutes and missed a last
minute penalty.
Prestatyn Town kept themselves in contention with
a 3-0 win at Llansannan, referee Tony Hepton was
commended by both sides after having an excellent
game.
Rhyl Youth came from behind to win at coronation
gardens against Mochdre Sports, Matty Harrison's
unluckily deflected the ball into his own goal to
give Mochdre the lead, but three second half goals
helped Rhyl to an easy win.
Penmeanmawr's game at home to Aston Park Rangers
was called off, after the pitch failed an inspection
on Friday.
Division One
Mostyn are through to the semi-finals of the REM
Jones Cup following a epic tie at Mochdre Sports
Res. Mostyn led 2-0 at half-time, but were pegged
back as Mochdre went ahead 3-2 in the second half,
Lee Jones levelled for Mostyn to take the game into
extra-time, where they eventually ran out 5-4 winners.
Abergele Rovers took an important step towards
the title, with a vital win a Denbigh Town, Trefnant
kept up the pressure also winning at Cerrigydrudion,
both teams meet next week at Trefnant.
Division Two
Aztec Sports & Abergele Rovers Res. both won
their Halkyn cup quarter finals, while in the league
Y Glannau slipped up at home to Sychdyn. A result
which saw Sychdyn rise several places to third in
the table.
St Asaph could be in trouble with the League after
they failed to raise a side for the visit to Glan
Conwy.
Saturday January 27th 2007
NWCFA Junior Cup
Prestatyn Town's NWCFA Junior Cup tie ended in chaos,
when their match was abandoned after 38 minutes. Leading
goalscorer Ian Griffiths had just converted his second
penalty of the match to give Prestatyn a 2-1 lead, when
it was alleged that players from both sides became abusive
and aggressive towards the referee, who had no option
other than to abandon the match for his own safety.
Prestatyn feel particularly aggrieved as they were forced
by the NWCFA to switch the original tie from Bastion
Road to Amlwch Town.
Y Glannau's long awaited tie with Barmouth ended in
defeat, an own goal on 55 minutes followed by two late
goals ruined a good first half performance from the
Glan Clwyd side.
Premier Division
Halkyn United recorded their first win of the season
at Bro Cernyw, Mark Gunther (2) and Dave Lyth getting
the goals in their 3-1 away win. Flint Town Res. gained
revenge for their defeat earlier in the season against
Aston Park Rangers, Darren Edwards scored twice including
a 25 yard volley and also missed a first half penalty.
Wayne Edwards headed a second in between his brother's
goals.
In the rearranged game at Llandyrnog, a Rhodri Evans
penalty on the stroke of half time for Llasannan gave
the league leaders some concern, but the lead was short
lived as Danny Roberts equalised within 3 minutes of
the restart, the home side then went on to win comfortably,
maintaining their 4 point lead at the top of the division.
Rhuddlan Town need to start winning, if they hope to
mount a late title charge, a late equaliser from player
manager Jon Stazicker salvaged a point, after Rhuddlan
had fallen two goals behind at Penmaenmawr with 18 minutes
left. Penmaenmawr striker Steve Roberts will miss the
rest of the season, after a scan at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd
revealed a break in his leg. The Clwyd League would
like to wish Steve a speedy recovery and hope to see
him back in action next season.
Second placed Rhyl Nomads had no such problems, hammering
Mochdre Sports 4-1, this sets up next weeks top of the
table clash at Llandyrnog, where a win for Nomads would
put them a point behind Llandynog with a game in hand.
Division One
Abergele Rovers stretched their lead at the top to
4 points, while Abergele were winning 6-0 at Mochdre,
Denbigh Town blew a two goal lead at home, conceding
late goals to draw 2-2 with Point of Ayr.
Trefnant Village picked up a hard fought point in a
1-1 draw at Greenfield, both Brynford & Caerwys
had good home wins, which will help in their fight against
relegation.
Division Two
Glan Conwy got back to winning ways, thrashing Sychdyn
5-1 at Cae Fwt, Rhuddlan Town Res. lost the leadership
after slipping to a 3-1 home defeat against Rhos United.
Aztec Sports, Aston Park Rangers & Abergele Rovers
all won 2-1 at home, at this stage in the season 7 points
separate 1st place Glan Conwy to 8th placed Aston Park
Rangers.
Saturday January 6th 2007
Junior Cup
Prestatyn Town won their much delayed Junior Cup match
with Llanfairpwll Res., two early first half goals from
Nathan Palma and Ian Griffiths ensured a comfortable victory.
In the second half John McKeown was unlucky to slice an
attempted clearance into his own goal and despite Ian
Grifffiths missing a penalty the visitors rarely threatened.
Prestatyn now play Y Felinheli next week in the third
round.
Flint Town were unlucky to go out in extra time, after
completely dominating the tie, missed chances in normal
time cost the home side.
Llandyrnog United built up a 3 goal first half lead against
Holyhead Hostpurs, but conceded two late goals, Brett
Jones and David Davies scored in the first half hour for
Llandyrnog, before David Ross Williams saw his shot deflected
in off a defender. Kevin Cameron and the experienced Nigel
Moore replied for Holyhead.
Presidents Cup
The Presidents Cup tie between Caerwys Res. and Rhuddlan
Town was called off by Referee Harry Guest due to the
pitch being unfit, Caerwys club officials had prepared
the pitch at Barlows on Friday, but unfortunately overnight
a large flock of sheep had found there way on to the field.
Premier Division
Mochdre Sports gained their first win since August, a
Danny Ashe hat-trick featured in the 4-1 win over Halkyn
United.
Bro Cernyw and Aston Park fought out a 1-1 draw, the
Llangernyw side being denied victory after a late goal
was disallowed.
Penmaenmawr Phoenix dropped two valuable points at home
to Llansannan, after being 3-1 up at half time the home
side failed to capitalise on the lead as Llansannan deservedly
fought back to earn a point, with Gareth Evans equalising
six minutes from time.
The Rhyl Derby at coronation gardens between Rhyl Nomads
and Rhyl Youth also ended in a 1-1 draw, with both sides
having not seen any action in the last month due to the
weather, it was no surprise that the game was scrappy
and was a poor match to watch, although Rhyl Youth could
have snatched a winner in the last minute when they hit
the underside of the bar.
Division One
The shock result of the day was at Brynford where leaders
Abergele Rovers lost 2-1, with Brynford's top marksman
Dean Rigby getting both the goals.
Denbigh Town maintained their promotion push with a narrow
1-0 win over Mochdre Sports Res. while Cerrigydrudion's
goalscoring form returned as they beat Mostyn 5-3.
Division Two
Abergele Rovers Res. faired better than their first team
by hitting seven past struggling St Asaph, Leon Field
and Thomas Galvin were amongst the Gele goalscorers.
Sychdyn missed the chance to go second after blowing
a two goal lead at Aston Park Rangers, a spectacular collapse
in the last half hour saw the visitors concede four goals,
Aston Park eventually running out 5-2 winners.
Controversy surrounded the fixture between Rhuddlan Town
Res. and Glan Conwy, with Rhuddan's first team match at
Caerwys being called off earlier in the day, first team
managers James Ainsworth & Jon Staziker felt that
the team needed a run out because of the recent breaks
in the fixtures, and with an important Junior Cup match
next Saturday the result was that almost the entire first
team played against the second division league leaders.
Glan Conwy put up a good fight in the first half restricting
the home side to just a single goal, but a the match wore
on Rhuddan Town were much stronger ending up 5-0 winners.
First team strikers Andy Booker (4) and Andy Thomas scoring
the goals. This result throws the league wide open again
with at least seven teams still in with a chance.
Aztecs Sports home match with Northop Hall was called
off due to the non appearance of the appointed match official,
the league will be investigating the matter at the next
executive meeting.
Clwyd League Div 2
Caerwys Res 1 Trefnant 3
Caerwys lacked fire-power in front of goal and gave possession
away cheaply and that was the difference between the two sides.
There was very little in it after a blank first half with
few opportunities. Mike Poole going close for Caerwys with
a blistering shot which went narrowly over but they should
have had a penalty when Sam Jones was tripped but somehow
the ref missed it. Trefnant squandered two good chances at
the other end but they took the lead soon after the break.
A second goal gifted by a poor clearance dampened Caerwys
spirits but sub Chris Williams reduced the arrears with 10
mins left, however Trefnant scored a killer third 2 mins from
time.
Saturday 18th November 2006
Premier
All Today's fixtures were completed and included
some high scoring games, Martin Jones of Rhuddlan Town is
the new leading scorer in the Premier Division, after scoring
Six of his goals in Rhuddlan's 8-2 away win at Halkyn, incredibly
Jones scored five of his goals before half time.
Martin Jones leads Prestatyn's Ian Griffiths
by 1 goal, although Griffiths scored both of Prestatyn's goals
in the Pentraeth Honda Barritt Cup win over Bethel, the goals
do not count as it is not a Clwyd league competition. Prestatyn
achieved their despite playing half the match with ten men.
Mark Hughes was red carded in the 43rd minute, but Griffiths
struck twice in a minute midway through the second half.
Llansannan blew a 3 goal advantage at home to
title contenders Llandyrnog United Res., the Home side raced
3-0 ahead within half an hour, but a David Ross Williams goal
just before half time gave the visitors hope. The second half
was all one way traffic as Llandyrnog hammered in three more
goals to secure a win that moves them up into third place.
There were comfortable wins for Aston Park Rangers
and Rhyl Nomads, while Flint Town came from two goals behind
to force a draw at Rhyl Youth.
Division One
Abergele Rovers were surprisingly held at home
to Mochdre Sports Reserves, but still regained top position
as nearest rivals Trefnant lost at Point of Ayr.
Denbigh Town Res. & Mostyn kept up the pressure
on the top two with big wins, Denbigh hit eight at Cerrigydrudion,
a James Koval hat trick featured in this game and Mostyn had
six different scorers in their 9-2 win over local rivals Brynford.
Caerwys Res. were well beaten at home to much
improved Greenfield.
Division Two
Aztec Sports move up into second place after
a hard fought win over Rhos United, but Glan Conwy maintained
their grip on first place with a crushing 9-0 win at struggling
St Asaph, Steve Taylor scoring four times for the away side.
Northop Hall dropped more points as they were
held at Wepre Rangers and Y Glannau never recovered after
falling two goals behind against Abergele Rovers Res. The
home side replied through a Chris Evans goal, but the striker
could not repeat his recent good form.
Rhuddlan Town Res. move up to fifth after an
easy 3-0 home win over promotion chasing Sychdyn.
Saturday 4th November 2006
Premier Cup
Ian Griffiths scored yet another hat-trick as
Prestatyn Town Res. overcame Llandyrnog United Res. in the
Premier Cup first round, Griffiths had given Town a 2-0 lead,
but Gareth John Williams pulled a goal back for Llandyrnog
just before the break.
Llandyrnog pushed further forward in the second
half searching for the equaliser and almost scored when a
speculative cross came back off the cross bar, by now Town
were defending and restricted to counter attacks. Ten minutes
from time Griffiths exploited the space left at the back to
complete his hat-trick, but Prestatyn had an anxious last
few minutes, when Gareth John scored his second.
Justin Jones (3) heads away for Prestatyn - click image for

Due to the NWCFA Junior Cup only two league
fixtures took place, between sides knocked out in the previous
round, both fixtures were in Division Two.
Division Two
Rhuddlan Town Res. took on Abergele Rovers Res.
at the Admirals Fields, both teams fielded very youthful sides,
Matty Pardoe gave Rhuddlan the lead on 22 minutes, but Abergele
gradually took over towards the end of the half and created
a number of chances before Thomas Galvin latched onto a through
ball and fired low under the keeper. Rhuddlan restored their
lead 15 minutes from time through Damian Foxbyrne and hung
on for a valuable three points.
Ryan Woods clears for Abergele - click image for larger picture
Glan Conwy Res. take over top position from
Y Glannau, after their hard fought win over promotion rivals
Sychdyn, a goal in each half from Steve Taylor earned the
Vale of Conwy side the win, but Sychdyn were unlucky to be
denied a first half penalty claim for a blatant hand ball.
The Situation at the top of Division Two is
becoming increasingly tight, as up to Six teams are involved
in the championship race, and a number of teams below have
proved that they are more than capable of taking points off
the leaders.
NWCFA Junior Cup
Thirteen Clwyd League sides are definitely through
to the next round on a day when our clubs from the 1st &
2nd Divisions had more success than our Premier Division sides.
Two results that were the pick of the day were:-
Mostyn's win at holders Caernarfon Boro, despite
Sean Williams missing a first half penalty Mostyn showed great
character in the second half and deservedly led through goals
by Mike Prydderch and Gareth Roberts, after surviving an own
goal and a few over the top challenges from their desperate
opponents, Dave Jones sealed a memorable victory two minutes
from time.
The shock win for Y Glannau at Rhyl Nomads,
the Division Two leaders win was even more remarkable due
to the fact that they had to overcome a two goal deficete
and Rhyl Nomads also squandered two penalties. After going
2-0 down in the first 10 minutes, Y Glannau showed great fighting
spirit to comeback to win this enthralling Junior Cup match.
A hat-trick by Deiniol Jones and a single from Meirion Edwards
sent Y Glannau through to the next round. Even though, Y Glannau
survived two penalty misses, they showed great resilience
to hang on at the end. (Thanks to dilagann for the report).
Other very good results:-
Greenfield's 5-1 win at Llansannan, and Halkyn's
2-0 win over Llanllyfni from the Gwynedd Leaguer. Cerrigydrudion's
5-3 win over Pwllheli Res. Cerrig playing some excellent football
were leading 4-0 before their opponents resorted to trying
to kick them off the park, this worked for a while as Pwllheli
pulled two goals back, but Sior Williams added a killer 5th
goal for Cerrig nine minutes from time, after opening the
scoring with an own goal John Glyn ended the scoring for Pwllheli
with the last kick of the game.
Rhos United's 3-1 home win against Rhiwlas,
who knocked out Sychdyn in the pervious round, Abergele Rovers
had a comfortable 4-0 win over Trefor from the Caernarfon
area, Aztec Sports conceded an early goal in their match against
Llangoed from Ynys Mon, but ran out 4-1 winners, helped by
two goals from Callum Cardno.
The all Premier Division tie between Mochdre
Sports & Aston Park Rangers went to extra time with the
home side winning 4-3. In the all Division One tie Point of
Ayr won at Caerwys Res. after losing there in the cup earlier
this season.
The visitors dominated the first half against
a disjointed Caerwys team who lacked basic team organisation.
Andy Peters managed to pull it back to 1-3 by half time. Caerwys
improved in the second half and Mike Poole pulled another
back but his team failed to capitalise on a number of good
goal scoring opportunities and Point pinched a killer fourth
to see them through. (Thanks to Caerwysfc for this report).
Mynydd Llandygai 1 Flint Town Res. 4. A professional
away performance by Flint, who led 4-0 before conceding a
late goal, after two recent defeats this win should lift Eddie
Barry's teams confidence for next weeks trip to Glan Conwy
in the Barritt Cup.
Machno United from the Caernarfon League arrived
at Pengwern College Rhuddlan very much the underdogs, with
a young looking side nothing like the Machno sides of old,
that could strike fear into opponents even before a ball was
kicked. The opening half suggested nothing less than a convincing
home win, with Rhuddlan Town totally dominating the match
and unlucky to be leading only 4-1, a Martin Jones hat-trick
and a John Hargreaves penalty had the home side much in control,
Hargreaves had what seemed to be a perfectly good goal ruled
out, when his shot rebounded of the cross bar and appeared
to cross the line before being cleared by a defender.
Despite containing a wealth of experienced players
Rhuddlan took the field in body but not in sprit allowing
Machno to plunder three second half goals and bizarrely sending
the match into extra time, fortunately for Rhuddlan there
was no further scoring, but the worry was that regular keeper
Jamie Jones was missing, and they had to rely on an untried
keeper for the penalty shoot out.
Rhuddlan had their boots on for the penalties
converting all four taken, Machno scored two of theirs, but
hit the same post twice with the other two.
Rhuddlan had a lucky escape in the end and now
face another great former Vale of Conwy side Blaenau Ffestiniog
at Cae Clyd.
Left - John Hargreaves scores his penalty for
Rhuddlan. Right - Hargreaves shot that was controversally
judged to have not crossed the line. - click images for larger

There were some major disappointments as Bro
Cernyw went down with little resistance at home to Llanystumdwy,
Premier title hopefuls Penmaenmawr Phoenix lost at local rivals
Llandudno Junction Res. thanks to two late goals, but did
not deserve to get anything out of the game.
Trefnant comprehensively beaten at Amlwch, Denbigh
Town very unlucky to lose on penalties at Beaumaris Town,
Northop Hall put up a very good fight losing by the odd goal
to Llanfairfechan Town.
Some expected defeats were at Brynford for whom
Martin Farmer scored an amazing 45 yard screamer against Blaenau
Ffestiniog, St Asaph at Bethel and most obviously Aston Park
Rangers Reserves, who made the long trip to Meirionydd to
play Barmouth & Dyffryn United, who are two leagues higher,
unbeaten and top of the Gwynedd League.
Rhyl Youth's match at Holyhead Gwelfor was abandoned
with Holyhead leading 2-0, when match official O.S.Owen was
hit in the face by the ball and could not continue to ref
the game.
Wepre Rangers failed to phoned their result
into the NWCFA competitions secretary and could face disciplinary
action.
Saturday 14th October 2006
Presidents Cup Round 2
Eleven of the sixteen ties were played, with
the remaining games being played out over the next two weeks,
The featured ties of the round was at Bastion Road where Prestatyn
Town entertained Abergele Rovers.
Abergele started the game missing five regulars
notably Paul Walker in goal, midfielder Allan Jones and striker
Paul Demilow, but had the experience of captain Tony Emm and
Jem Steel in the back four to add support to the youthful
looking side.
Prestatyn Town were at full strength and had
the luxury of having players such as Justin Jones and Darren
Hughes on the bench.
Prestatyn took the lead on 22 minutes when Nathan
Palma hammered a loose ball home after it was deflected into
his path, up until then the game had been fairly even with
few chances for both sides, Abergele's best effort came early
in the game when Callun Hardy struck the angle of bar &
post from 25 yards out. Mike Taylor in the Abergele goal was
forced into a couple of good saves from Ian Griffiths.
The second half was only 10 minutes old when
Prestatyn were awarded a penalty for a trip on Nathan Palma,
Ian Griffiths well struck was well saved by Taylor as he dived
to his right, but unfortunately for the Abergele keeper the
ball ricochet off him back across his goal, to leave Griffiths
with a simple tap in.
Abergele player manager Leon Field pulled a
goal back 8 minutes from time after coming on as sub, but
any thoughts of a comeback were diminished when Prestatyn
sub Darren Hughes restored the two goal advantage 2 minutes
later.
Mochdre Sports Reserves had a comfortable 4-1
win at Abergele Rovers Reserves, Aston Park Rangers were surprisingly
beaten at home by First Division Greenfield for whom John
Shepherd scored twice.
Aztec Sports provided the biggest upset of the
day, the Division Two side playing against their high flying
Premier division opponents Rhyl Youth. Callum Cardno 2 &
Jamie Allen getting Aztec's goals, who were well worth their
win, the Rhyl based Aztec side defeating their local rivals
3-0.
A last minute winner from Terry Jones saw Caerwys
through 4-3 at home to Point of Ayr, Bradley Foulkes scored
twice in a minute to take Point close, but was sent off late
in the second half.
Cerrigydrudion crushed St Asaph form Division
Two 6-1 at home, Ryan Jones scoring twice for the home side,
Denbigh Town playing at home for the first time in a number
of weeks were obviously not used to their own pitch, losing
2-0 against Sychdyn, for whom Ben Morgan and Richard Hughes
scored, it could have been worse for Denbigh as Richard Hughes
also missed a penalty in the last minute.
Penmaenmawr were too strong for Mostyn winning
3-0 away at Maes Pennant, Y Glannau won on penalties away
at second division title rivals Northop Hall, after the sides
were deadlocked at 1-1 after extra time.
Two sides from Division Two gave their Premier
Division opponents a tougher game as they would get all season,
Rhos United went close against Rhuddlan Town, as Rhuddlan
hung on in the last 10 minutes to win 4-3. Wepre Rangers went
even closer taking Llansannan to extra time, the second division
side led 2-0 after 20 minutes, but just before half time Arfon
Davies pulled a goal back for Llansannan. A shock seemed to
be on the cards when Gary Trebble restored Wepre's two goal
advantage near the hour mark, but two late goals rescued Llansannan
and forced extra time.
Nine minutes into the second period of extra
time Llansannan were awarded a penalty, Rhodri Evans Llansannan's
Captain and most experienced player took the responsibility
to score from the spot kick.
Premier Division
In the Premier Division the top game of the
day was at Coronation Gardens where Rhyl Nomads took on Flint
Town, Nomads came out on top 3-2 winners in a great game of
football, but had to hang on after Flint centre half Mike
Davies pulled a goal back 20 minutes from time, from then
on it was backs to the wall defending for the Nomads, who
were relieved when Flint's Lee Blythin squandered a great
chance from 2 yards out with an open goal at his mercy. Flint
Town's Mike Davies was credited with the man of the match
in a game in which both sides were a credit to their League.
Rhyl Nomads remain top of the Premier League,
but face a number of testing games in the coming weeks, next
Saturday they are away at in their Presidents Cup tie Trefnant
Village, who current lead Division One, this match is likely
to be featured on this website. On October 28th the Nomads
face local rivals Rhyl Youth and have a Barritt Cup tie against
Bethesda Athletic on November 11th.
Llandyrnog United move up to second with a game
in hand, thanks to a 5-1 away win at Mochdre Sports, Llandyrnog
are also in Presidents Cup action next week at home to Flint
Town, which may also be featured on the website.
Comeback specialists Bro Cernyw recovered form
a two goal deficit at Halkyn United, Paul smith and Andy Talbot
had given the home side a 2-0 half time lead, but the Llangernyw
side rallied in the second half with goals from Dylan Roberts
and Bryn Griffiths.
Division One & Two
Second half goals from Phil Evans and Jamie
Davies (2), allowed Trefnant to take-over leadership of the
First Division, hosts Brynford held Trefnant until late in
the second period, Trefnant are now unbeaten since the first
day of the season when they lost 4-1 at home to Brynford.
Rhuddlan Town Reserves fought out a 1-1 draw
with Aston Park Rangers Reserves at Pengwyn Collage, Jason
Ashbrook gave Rhuddlan the lead, but Daniel Morris equalised
for Aston Park just before the break.
Saturday 23rd September 2006
Premier Division
Bro Cernyw and Prestatyn Town shared 10 goals in an amazing
game at Llangernyw. Prestatyn Town were leading 4-1, 15
minutes into the second half, but as Bro Cernyw tried thier
